Yann LeCun
Yann LeCun is the co-founder and executive chairman of AMI Labs. A winner of the 2018 Turing Award (shared with Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio) for foundational work on deep learning, he pioneered convolutional neural networks at Bell Labs in the late 1980s and is a longtime professor at New York University. He founded Meta's FAIR research lab in 2013 and served as Meta's Chief AI Scientist until departing in November 2025, arguing that large language models alone cannot reach human-level intelligence. At AMI Labs he is pursuing his Joint Embedding Predictive Architecture (JEPA), training world models on real-world sensor data so machines can understand, predict, and plan in the physical world.
