How fobi's content is made
fobi mixes hand-curation, primary-source data ingestion, and language models with web search. This page is the full methodology — what's human, what's machine, what's cited, and how often everything refreshes.
The data layer
Every quantitative surface on fobi is sourced from a primary feed or a primary source. We don't launder figures through aggregators.
| Surface | Source | Model | Cadence |

AI-generated content
The weekly sector brief is produced by an AI pipeline constrained to cite a primary source for every factual claim. A second pass verifies each citation and strips passages whose cited source does not support them. Every brief carries a visible AI-generated notice and a citation count.
AI is also used to produce the one-line summary under each article in the news feed, to classify ingested articles by event type and sentiment, to research funding history and catalyst dates, and to produce the per-company bull/bear analysis. The original article headline and source link are always preserved unmodified.
Company profiles
Company profiles are hand-curated. Funding numbers, headcount bands, and leadership claims link to the primary sources they came from (press releases, SEC filings, trade press). Where a figure cannot be sourced to a primary announcement, the field is marked unknown rather than estimated.
The roster
The roster (40 companies per sector) is a working hypothesis about who matters now. Reviewed quarterly against a transparent criteria: relevancy (funding velocity, technical credibility, news mentions, customer traction), and sector fit. Roster changes are logged and publicly readable on each sector dashboard.
News feed and fair use
fobi's news feed renders only the original headline, a fobi-generated one-line summary in original wording, and a link to the source. Article bodies are not republished. Brief citations quote up to 15 words from a source and always link out.
Jobs feed
Open-roles data is pulled from the public job-board APIs of Greenhouse, Lever, and Ashby. Roughly 60–70% of tracked companies expose such an API; for the rest, fobi links out to the company's own careers page rather than aggregating.
Amazon affiliate disclosure
The "Further reading" section includes Amazon affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, fobi earns from qualifying purchases. This does not influence which books are included.
Not investment advice
Editorial analysis & opinion, not financial advice. fobi publishes journalism and commentary about frontier-tech companies and markets. Nothing on this site — including the "What should you do", "Tailwinds", "Headwinds", "The Angle", or any other module — is investment advice, an offer or solicitation to buy or sell securities, a recommendation, an endorsement, or a statement of fitness for any particular purpose. Past or one-day stock movements shown alongside stories are factual reference points, not forecasts. Coverage of any company reflects sector relevance, not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security.
Do not act on fobi content as if it were tailored advice for your situation.
