Aidan Gomez is the co-founder and CEO of Cohere. As a researcher at Google Brain, he was one of the eight co-authors of the 2017 paper 'Attention Is All You Need,' which introduced the transformer architecture underpinning modern large language models. He studied at the University of Toronto and conducted research at FOR.ai before co-founding Cohere in 2019.
Nick Frosst co-founded Cohere in 2019. He was Geoffrey Hinton's first employee at Google Brain's Toronto lab, where he worked from 2016 to 2020 on capsule networks, adversarial examples, and explainability, co-authoring the influential 'Dynamic Routing Between Capsules' paper with Sara Sabour and Hinton. He holds a degree in computer science and cognitive science from the University of Toronto, and is also the lead singer of the band Good Kid.
Ivan Zhang co-founded Cohere in 2019 alongside Aidan Gomez and Nick Frosst. He had previously conducted machine-learning research with Gomez at FOR.ai, and attended the University of Toronto.
