Sarvam

Sarvam was founded in August 2023 in Bengaluru, India, by Vivek Raghavan and Pratyush Kumar, who both worked at AI4Bharat, the Indian-language AI initiative at IIT Madras. At the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi in February 2026 it unveiled Sarvam 30B and Sarvam 105B, mixture-of-experts language models trained from scratch on compute from the government-backed IndiaAI Mission, and it has published their weights on Hugging Face under the Apache 2.0 license. Sarvam sells voice agents, document digitization and workplace agents to banks, insurers, government agencies and defense customers, and charges for APIs covering speech-to-text, text-to-speech, translation and its models. Its Indus chat app, launched on February 20, 2026, runs on Sarvam 105B. The company raised $41 million across seed and Series A rounds from Lightspeed Venture Partners, Khosla Ventures and Peak XV Partners. On June 15, 2026 it announced $234 million of new funding at a $1.5 billion valuation, including $150 million from HCLTech, with Bessemer Venture Partners participating.
