Tencent Hunyuan (0700.HK) is a publicly traded China AI Labs company founded in 2023 and based in Shenzhen, China.
Tencent Hunyuan is the foundation-model team of Tencent, headquartered in Shenzhen, China. Tencent unveiled the Hunyuan model on September 7, 2023, at its Global Digital Ecosystem Summit, connected to 50 Tencent products at launch. The team, which brands its models as Tencent Hy, released Hy3 Preview in April 2026 and the full Hy3 on July 6, 2026: a mixture-of-experts language model with 295 billion total and 21 billion active parameters, a 256,000-token context window and an Apache 2.0 license. On August 28, 2026 it released Hy4 preview, with 770 billion total and 49 billion active parameters and a context window above one million tokens. It also publishes open generation models such as Hunyuan3D and HunyuanVideo. Tencent sells API access to the models through Tencent Cloud TokenHub and OpenRouter and runs them inside its own products, including the Yuanbao assistant, CodeBuddy and WorkBuddy. Tencent Holdings is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under the ticker 0700.HK.
Tencent Hunyuan gives Tencent its own model stack, alongside ByteDance Seed and Alibaba's Qwen, and ships it inside Tencent products such as Yuanbao, CodeBuddy and WorkBuddy. Hy3's Apache 2.0 license lets developers download and self-host the weights from Hugging Face and ModelScope, and Tencent says Hy3 drew more than 68 times the API calls of the previous Hy model. Tencent Cloud International sells Hy3 to enterprises through TokenHub, with regional partners Cafe24 in South Korea and Metelix in Japan.
