Pronto.ai was an Off-road & Industrial Autonomy company founded in 2018 and based in San Francisco, United States. It was acquired by Atoms in 2026.
Pronto.ai was founded in 2018 in San Francisco by Anthony Levandowski, a co-founder of Google's self-driving project (later Waymo) and Uber's AV program. The company builds an OEM-agnostic, camera-first autonomous haulage system (AHS) that retrofits onto off-road haul trucks for mining and construction, prioritizing affordability and rapid deployment over heavy sensor suites. In July 2025 Pronto acquired off-road autonomy rival SafeAI, combining its camera-only AHS with SafeAI's multi-sensor, ASIL-D safety stack. In April 2026 Pronto was acquired by Atoms, Travis Kalanick's physical-AI company, where it now operates as the core of the Atoms Mining division while keeping the Pronto brand and Levandowski as CEO.
Pronto pushes a low-cost, camera-only approach to off-road autonomy and has consolidated the space by absorbing rival SafeAI.
