WeRide (NASDAQ: WRD) is a publicly traded Robotaxi / AV company founded in 2017 and based in Guangzhou, China.
WeRide was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in Guangzhou, led by founder and CEO Tony Han with co-founder and CTO Yan Li. The company builds a universal autonomous-driving platform spanning Level 2 to Level 4 and commercializes a uniquely broad product line: robotaxi, robobus, robovan, robosweeper and ADAS. WeRide listed on Nasdaq in October 2024 under the ticker WRD — billing itself the first publicly traded robotaxi company — and later added a Hong Kong listing. It has secured autonomous-driving permits across multiple countries and partners with Uber to deploy robotaxis internationally, including commercial fare-charging operations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, a planned pilot in Madrid, and Riyadh added to the Uber Middle East rollout, with the partners targeting at least 1,200 robotaxis across the Middle East by 2027; Uber has since increased its equity stake in WeRide. In Q1 2026 WeRide reported revenue of $16.5 million (up 58%) against a $56.4 million net loss, with a fleet of roughly 1,300 vehicles.
WeRide is China's other publicly listed AV leader, distinctive for commercializing the widest product range — robotaxi to robosweeper — and an aggressive global rollout via Uber.
