Kindroid

Kindroid is an AI companion app founded in 2023 by Jerry Meng, a Stanford computer-science dropout, and based in Los Angeles. Users create and customize AI companions, called Kindroids, and interact through text, voice calls and AI-generated selfies, with the app emphasizing long-term memory and a high degree of personalization over personality, appearance and backstory. The company is backed by Pear VC and has reported raising on the order of $1 million; its Android app has surpassed roughly 1.2 million downloads. Kindroid positions itself toward power users who want fine-grained control of their companion and its memory.
