Talkie is the international character-chat app from MiniMax, the Shanghai-based AI company founded in 2022 by former SenseTime executive Yan Junjie; the same product runs domestically in China under the name Xingye. Users chat, voice-call and roleplay with a large library of user-created AI characters, with features such as collectible character cards. Talkie became one of the most downloaded AI chat apps in the US before being pulled from the US App Store in December 2024, with MiniMax citing technical reasons amid broader scrutiny of Chinese-owned apps; it has remained available elsewhere, including on Google Play. MiniMax listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in January 2026 (stock code 0100), with its market value briefly topping $11 billion on debut.
