MIT Media Lab spinout building the MouthPad^, a custom-fit intraoral touchpad that lets people control phones and computers hands-free with tongue and head gestures. The device is a dental-grade retainer worn on the roof of the mouth with a pressure-sensitive trackpad that translates tongue movements and head gestures into cursor control, clicks, scrolling, and dragging over Bluetooth, with no companion software required. Primarily an assistive human-computer interface for people with spinal cord injury, quadriplegia, and movement impairments, though it is also used by some gamers and programmers. The company has raised roughly $4.35M in total, including a $4M seed round in June 2024 led by Fen Ventures. The MouthPad^ became commercially available across the United States in 2024 and is fulfilled via a waitlist in batches, supported by a network of 50+ dental partners for fitting and onboarding.
