Sumner Norman
Neuroscientific engineer with an M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Irvine and a neural engineering postdoctoral fellowship at Caltech. His postdoctoral research at Caltech's T&C Chen Brain-Machine Interface Center introduced functional ultrasound — a brain-imaging technique adapted for high-resolution, brain-wide neural recording — as a minimally invasive BCI modality. He co-founded Forest Neurotech in October 2023 as a nonprofit Focused Research Organization to develop this ultrasound BCI approach. He maintains a Visiting Researcher role at Caltech and previously advised AE Studio.
