INBRAIN Neuroelectronics

Medtech executive with 13 years at Medtronic, including a decade leading the company's global neuromodulation business, before co-founding INBRAIN in 2020. Her Medtronic tenure gave her direct experience with the limitations of metal-electrode stimulation and motivated her shift to graphene-based devices. Under her leadership INBRAIN raised a $50 million Series B, received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation for its graphene neural-modulation platform, and completed the world's first-in-human study of a graphene cortical interface for brain decoding and mapping — a clinical milestone achieved in 2024.

ICREA Research Professor and group leader at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) in Barcelona, where he leads the Advanced Electronic Materials and Devices group focused on graphene-based electronics. He is a member of the Graphene Flagship consortium. INBRAIN is a direct spin-off of his ICN2 research, commercialising graphene neural interfaces that offer orders-of-magnitude lower electrochemical impedance and higher charge-injection capacity than platinum or tungsten electrodes. He serves as a member of INBRAIN's board of directors.

Professor of Nanomedicine at the University of Manchester's Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, and a researcher at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2). His lab pioneered the use of graphene and other two-dimensional nanomaterials in biomedical applications. He is the Chief Scientific Investigator of INBRAIN's first-in-human graphene BCI study and is closely linked to the National Graphene Institute at Manchester, which holds co-patents that INBRAIN licences. He co-founded INBRAIN in 2020 to translate this collaborative research into clinical graphene neural devices.
