The SetPoint System is a miniaturized neurostimulator, about the size of a vitamin tablet, implanted on the vagus nerve in the neck. It delivers a dose of electrical stimulation once a day to activate anti-inflammatory pathways, and patients recharge it at home with a wireless charger. The FDA approved it on July 30, 2025 under PMA P240039 for adults with moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis after an inadequate response to, or intolerance of, biologic or targeted synthetic DMARDs.
SetPoint's neurostimulation platform targets the vagus nerve to activate the body's anti-inflammatory pathways, a device-based option for patients who do not respond to or cannot tolerate biologic or targeted drugs. The company plans to evaluate the platform in other chronic autoimmune diseases, including multiple sclerosis and Crohn's disease.
