Avnos is a Direct Air Capture company founded in 2020 and based in Los Angeles, United States. It has raised $80M in total funding, most recently a Series A in 2024.
Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Los Angeles, Avnos commercializes a Hybrid Direct Air Capture (HDAC) technology originated at the U.S. Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Unlike thermal DAC, its moisture-swing process needs no heat to regenerate the sorbent and co-produces water rather than consuming it, generating roughly five tons of water per ton of CO2 captured. Avnos raised a $36 million Series A led by NextEra Energy Resources and has signed funding-and-partnership agreements totaling about $80 million with ConocoPhillips, JetBlue Ventures, and Shell Ventures; its Project Cedar facility is slated to come online by end of 2026.
Its no-heat, water-positive approach attacks DAC's two biggest costs, energy and water, and has drawn major oil and aviation backers.
