Captura's Direct Ocean Capture systems pump seawater through an electrodialysis stack powered by renewable electricity, splitting out a dissolved-CO2 stream that is captured for permanent storage or use. The decarbonized seawater is returned to the ocean, which then absorbs a matching quantity of CO2 from the atmosphere, using the ocean as a vast, fast collector instead of moving large volumes of air. Because it adds no chemicals and produces no harmful byproducts, the modular technology aims to be a low-cost, highly scalable pathway to gigaton-scale carbon removal sold as verified credits.
