A reactive calcium-carbonate cement made by capturing CO2 from a cement kiln and mineralizing it back into a usable binder via Fortera's ReCarb process. ReAct can be blended with or substitute for ordinary portland cement and, according to Fortera, lowers CO2 emissions by up to 70% while holding near-term cost parity and meeting performance standards. Because the ReCarb system integrates into existing cement plants without replacing core infrastructure, producers can adopt it without rebuilding. Microsoft has secured rights to procure ReAct cement and its environmental attribute certificates under a 2025 offtake-and-investment deal.
