Isometric is selling trust in a market that has almost none — and trust, once established as the standard, is the most durable asset in carbon. Founded in 2022 by Onfido co-founder Eamon Jubbawy, it runs a carbon-removal registry and science platform that lists only verified, durable removal credits and publishes the underlying data, methodologies, and verification results transparently, a direct rebuke to the opaque, over-credited offset registries whose failures cratered the voluntary market. That rigor is winning exactly the mandates a registry needs: Isometric became one of the first carbon registries to earn approval across ICVCM, CORSIA, and ICROA, the three integrity bodies that increasingly gatekeep which credits serious buyers and airlines will touch. The customer proof is the flywheel — it is the chosen registry for landmark programs including Microsoft's 1.4-million-tonne Living Carbon reforestation offtake, InPlanet's Microsoft enhanced-weathering deal, and Deep Sky's Alpha project, and is on track to issue hundreds of thousands of credits across dozens of registered projects. Its team draws scientists from Oxford, Cambridge, and MIT and technologists from Amazon, Shopify, and Palantir. The $25M seed (2023, Lowercarbon and Plural) was one of climate's largest. Registries are natural winner-take-most businesses: as buyers demand ever-higher integrity and suppliers cluster on the registry buyers trust, Isometric compounds a two-sided network with regulatory moats around it.
