Phlair is a Direct Air Capture company founded in 2022 and based in Munich, Germany. It has raised $18M in total funding, most recently a Seed in 2024.
Founded in 2022 in Munich as Carbon Atlantis and later rebranded Phlair, the company develops an all-electric direct air capture system powered solely by electricity, with no high-temperature heat. Its proprietary hydrolyzer drives a pH-swing process that captures and releases CO2 using largely off-the-shelf components, making the system well suited to intermittent renewable power. Phlair raised a EUR 14.5 million seed round led by Extantia Capital, with Planet A, Verve Ventures, Atlantic Labs, Counteract, and UnternehmerTUM, plus a EUR 2.5 million EIC Accelerator grant, and counts early carbon-removal buyers including Shopify, Stripe, Klarna, and Deep Sky.
