Svante
Svante is a Point-Source Carbon Capture company founded in 2007 and based in Burnaby, Canada. It has raised $318M in total funding, most recently a Series E in 2022.
Based in Burnaby, British Columbia and led by president and CEO Claude Letourneau, Svante makes structured solid-sorbent filters coated with metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) that capture CO2 from industrial flue gas and from the atmosphere. In May 2025 it opened its Redwood Centre of Excellence, a roughly 141,000-square-foot facility billed as the world's first commercial gigafactory for carbon-capture filters, with capacity for filters able to capture up to 10 million tons of CO2 per year. The facility was backed by a US$145 million capital investment from strategic investors including Chevron New Energies, Temasek, Canada Growth Fund, United Airlines Ventures, Samsung, and GE Vernova.
Its filter gigafactory aims to make solid-sorbent capture a manufacturable, mass-produced product rather than a one-off megaproject.
