Founded in 2021 by Burkay Gur (ex-Coinbase, Oracle) and Gorkem Yurtseven (ex-Amazon), fal operates a generative media platform that provides developers with optimized API access to hundreds of AI image, video, audio, and 3D models. Its inference cloud is built around a fast diffusion runtime and now serves millions of developers and hundreds of enterprise customers. fal raised a $49M Series B in February 2025, a $125M Series C at a $1.5B valuation led by Meritech in July 2025, and a $140M Series D in December 2025 led by Sequoia at a $4.5B valuation, bringing total funding to roughly $300M. In spring 2026 it was reported in talks to raise $300-350 million at a roughly $8 billion valuation, and in May 2026 it announced an AWS partnership and reported 2.5 million developers on the platform.
