Evan Conrad
Evan Conrad co-founded the San Francisco Compute Company (SF Compute) in 2023 with Alex Gajewski and serves as CEO. The pair originally set out to build an AI audio model, and to train it they signed a 12-month GPU contract that forced them to buy far more capacity than they needed. That experience — being locked into a large fixed bill under uncertain demand — led them to pivot and build SF Compute as a marketplace for GPU capacity, renting H100 clusters by the hour to startups, grad students, and research labs. The company has raised funding to expand its compute marketplace, with backers including Jack Altman.
