Carbon Engineering was a pioneering Canadian direct-air-capture company founded by physicist David Keith; it was fully acquired by Occidental Petroleum for about $1.1 billion in 2023 and folded into Oxy Low Carbon Ventures.

Climeworks builds solid-sorbent direct air capture plants that pull CO2 from the atmosphere and sequester it underground in Iceland.
