Carbon Engineering was a pioneering Canadian direct-air-capture company founded by physicist David Keith; it was fully acquired by Occidental Petroleum for about $1.1 billion in 2023 and folded into Oxy Low Carbon Ventures.

Phlair builds hydrolyzer-based, all-electric direct air capture that uses a pH-swing to pull CO2 from the air with off-the-shelf parts.
