Evan Wallace
Studied computer science at Brown University, where he specialized in graphics and was a teaching assistant in the computer science department. During college, he interned at Microsoft and Pixar. Co-founded Figma in 2012 and worked as CTO for the better part of a decade, leaving in 2021. Developed the hybrid C++/JavaScript architecture for Figma's editor, with the document representation and canvas area in C++ while the UI around the canvas in JavaScript. His main contributions included the rendering engine, multiplayer collaboration service, vector and text editors, and plugin system. Since leaving Figma, his biggest open source project is esbuild, a very fast JavaScript and CSS bundler.
