Holds a bachelor's degree in software engineering from the Software College of Northeastern University. Spent two years as a software engineer at Hewlett-Packard (2007-2009) and roughly 16 months as an iPhone developer at Renren (2009-2011) before launching GIF Kuaishou in 2011. When co-founder Su Hua joined in 2013 as CEO, Cheng moved into Chief Product Officer, handling overall product matters and new business incubation including e-commerce and online games. Promoted to CEO in October 2021. Known as a product-focused engineer who preferred technology over interpersonal communication.

Tsinghua University graduate who worked as a software developer for Google in the United States and later for Baidu before founding Kuaishou with Cheng Yixiao in 2011, initially intended for sharing GIF images. After two and a half years at Google, he pursued his first entrepreneurial venture, exploring online video advertising, before the GIF-sharing pivot evolved into short-form video. Led Kuaishou through significant growth—achieving 308.1 million daily active users by 2020 through focus on rural and lower-tier city demographics—and oversaw its Hong Kong IPO in February 2021, which raised approximately $5.4 billion and valued the company at $60.9 billion at pricing. Maintains a notably low public profile, preferring privacy and avoiding media discussions on personal matters.

Worked at Hewlett-Packard from August 2007 to August 2009, where he and co-founder Cheng Yixiao got acquainted. Served at Deke Software (Dalian) Limited Company, a China-based company engaged in internet and technology business, from September 2009 to September 2010, before becoming a lead developer at Huawei. One of the founding team members who joined Kuaishou in 2011. In charge of Android client-side R&D, internal data platform development, business development for user growth, and overseas new product initiatives. Primarily responsible for corporate social responsibility and content security. Reflects a commitment to inclusive growth: expressed a wish for more users, particularly those in villages and less developed regions, to benefit from the continuous expansion of live stream application scenarios.
