Aembit

Aembit is early to what may become one of cybersecurity's largest new categories: non-human identity. Every application, microservice, CI/CD pipeline, and — increasingly — autonomous AI agent needs credentials to talk to other systems, and those machine identities now outnumber human ones by an order of magnitude while being secured with exactly the wrong tools: hardcoded secrets, long-lived API keys, and sprawling service-account permissions that are the root cause of a large share of breaches. Aembit's Workload IAM brokers access between workloads dynamically, issuing short-lived credentials against policy without secrets to steal, effectively bringing conditional-access discipline to the machine-to-machine layer. The timing is the thesis: the 2025-2026 explosion of agentic AI means enterprises are suddenly deploying thousands of autonomous agents that must authenticate and act, and there is no incumbent that owns "identity for agents." Founded in 2021 by David Goldschlag and Kevin Sapp — Goldschlag a veteran identity entrepreneur — Aembit raised a $25M Series A in September 2024 led by Acrew Capital, bringing total funding to roughly $45M, capital enough to stay lean while the category forms. If non-human identity becomes a required control the way privileged access did, being the workload-native pure-play with a policy engine already in production is a position worth far more than the money raised.
