Astronomer

Serial entrepreneur who studied Computer Science at the University of Cincinnati. He founded Sharkbytes in 1995, one of the first web interactive agencies in the U.S., growing it to $5M in revenue. He later co-founded Differential, a mobile and web development agency in Cincinnati, and served as CRO at RecruitMilitary. Walker co-founded Astronomer in 2015, serving as CEO then CTO before stepping back. He subsequently founded Tembo, a managed Postgres startup, and invests as MD/GP at Ocean Capital.

Holds a B.S. in Decision Sciences and Information Systems from the University of Kentucky. He built his engineering career through roles at Great American Insurance and as a Partner at Differential. He co-founded USERcycle as CTO before co-founding Astronomer in 2015, where he served as CTO building the commercial platform around Apache Airflow. His background spans .NET, AWS, and machine learning, and he was instrumental in Astronomer's early technical direction.

Holds bachelor's degrees in chemistry and physics from Bowdoin College. He joined Astronomer as one of its early co-founders in 2017, working in whatever capacity was needed to bring the first commercial Airflow offerings to market. He was promoted to VP of Product in January 2023 and then Chief Product Officer in February 2025. In July 2025, following the resignation of CEO Andy Byron, DeJoy was named Interim CEO, drawing on eight years of product and commercial leadership at the company.

Holds a B.A. in Economics with a Computer Science minor from Boston College. He came to Astronomer via a Venture for America fellowship that placed him in Cincinnati, joining as one of the company's first five employees in 2016. He has since built his career at the company across growth, product, and customer engineering, currently serving as Founding Team member and Field CTO. He is known for his work bringing Apache Airflow into enterprise data stacks at scale.
