Spent roughly a decade in applied machine learning and developer tools before founding Chroma. He previously co-founded Standard Cyborg (2014–2021), a company enabling 3D scanning and analysis via APIs — where he experienced firsthand how difficult it is to move ML-powered products from demo to production. That friction became the founding insight for Chroma, the open-source embedding database, which he launched in 2022 and which has surpassed 100M downloads. He attended North Carolina State University.
