Rowan Trollope
Began his career as a young programmer at Symantec in 1991 and spent nearly two decades there in senior product and engineering leadership roles. From 2012 to 2018 he was SVP and GM at Cisco, running the Collaboration and Applications groups behind Webex and Jasper IoT, then served as CEO of cloud contact-center company Five9 from 2018 to 2022 — a run that included Zoom's abandoned $14.7B acquisition attempt in 2021. He became CEO of Redis on February 1, 2023, succeeding co-founder Ofer Bengal, who moved to chairman. At Redis he has navigated the company's defining open-source crisis: after the March 2024 shift to source-available licensing spawned the AWS- and Google-backed Valkey fork, Trollope brought Redis creator Salvatore Sanfilippo back as developer evangelist and returned Redis 8 to OSI-approved open source under AGPLv3 in May 2025. He has repositioned the in-memory caching giant as a real-time data platform for AI — shipping vector search and the LangCache semantic-caching service and acquiring Speedb, Decodable, and Featureform.
