Rockset

B.Tech from IIT Madras and M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford. He spent his early career as an RDBMS developer in Oracle's Server Technologies group before joining Facebook in 2007, where he eventually led all online data infrastructure — a team whose systems collectively served more than 5 billion requests per second when he left in 2015. He co-founded Rockset in 2016 to simplify real-time analytics at cloud scale. OpenAI acquired Rockset in June 2024 to enhance its own retrieval infrastructure.

B.S. in Computer Science from Caltech and M.S. from Stanford. His career spans Oracle (database server internals), Google (Gmail storage and indexing backend), and Facebook, where he spearheaded Unicorn — Facebook's internal search backend — and built infrastructure for Facebook AI Research and the company's applied machine learning initiative. He co-founded Rockset in 2016 as Chief Architect, designing the search and analytics engine. Following OpenAI's acquisition of Rockset in June 2024, he joined OpenAI as a Member of Technical Staff.

M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and B.S. from BITS Pilani. At Yahoo he was one of the founding engineers of the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) and a contributor to Apache HBase. He joined Facebook in 2008 as a database infrastructure engineer and is the founding engineer of RocksDB — the embedded key-value store now used in CockroachDB, TiKV, and dozens of other data systems. He co-founded Rockset in 2016 as CTO, applying his open-source data systems expertise to real-time analytics. Rockset was acquired by OpenAI in June 2024.
