Snowflake provides a cloud-native data warehouse platform that separates compute and storage for elastic scaling. Public since 2020. Largest software IPO at the time. Competing directly with Databricks on AI and unstructured data. In February 2026 Snowflake closed its largest acquisition to date, the roughly $1B purchase of observability platform Observe, folding telemetry analytics into the AI Data Cloud.
The defining cloud data warehouse IPO of the decade with $2.7B+ ARR, setting the standard for consumption-based analytics infrastructure.
