Charity Majors
Homeschooled and a piano major who dropped out of college, Majors entered tech through a university systems job that hired anyone who "knew what Unix was." She spent years as a systems engineer at Linden Lab before joining Parse as its first infrastructure engineer, staying through Facebook's acquisition and into an engineering leadership role there. The visceral experience of wrestling with systems that felt "undebuggable" — even with world-class engineers — led her to co-found Honeycomb in 2016 with former Parse colleague Christine Yen. She co-authored *Database Reliability Engineering* (O'Reilly, 2017) and is a prolific, often-blunt writer and speaker on observability and engineering culture.
