Abstract A system and method for providing contextually-based content displays are provided. The system may include a device having a display providing content in a viewable region of the display. The device may include a camera device configured to track a scene of a real-world environment captured in a field of view of the camera device. The device may determine a region of interest in the scene. The device may perform object recognition on the scene tracked by the camera device. The device may determine an environmental interaction based on the object recognition and the region of interest. The device may adaptively alter, based on the environmental interaction, a position of the content provided by the display.

Abstract According to examples, an energy harvesting component for an optical device having an illumination source emitting unused light is described. The apparatus may include a light source to generate and transmit display light comprising at least one beam of light and an illumination source component to receive the at least one beam of light and to diffract the at least one beam of light in a first direction and an opposing direction. The apparatus may further include and an energy harvesting component to receive and absorb the at least one beam of light diffracted in an opposing direction and to convert the at least one beam of light diffracted in an opposing direction into electrical energy.

Abstract Antenna systems for near-eye devices are described which include multiple resonance sections fed by a single parasitic element. In one example, an antenna has multiple resonance sections which include an open-ended slot antenna section that resonates within a 2.4 GHz frequency band. In one example, the antenna has a monopole section and a dipole section which both resonate within a 5 GHz to 7 GHz frequency band. In one example, a floating dipole is created by locating an open-ended slot antenna parallel to a monopole antenna, where both antennas share the same electrical feed. In one example, multiple resonance sections on one side of a printed circuit board (PCB) are simultaneously electrically fed by a single parasitic element on the other side of the PCB.

Abstract A diffractive optical element may include a slab of transparent photoelastic material and a set of acoustic transducers spread over the perimeter of the slab. The acoustic transducers generate surface and/or volume acoustic waves that induce a diffractive pattern in the slab due to photoelasticity. The diffractive patterns a dynamic, i.e. they may be changed by changing phases and frequencies of oscillation of the acoustic transducers. Focusing and redirection patterns may be used to refocus and/or redirect image light in a near-eye display.

Abstract Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to an XR messaging system that can conduct a message thread between multiple users, where individual messages can be designated for delivery to particular artificial reality locations or devices. When sending a message, a user can choose to send the message to a particular destination associated with one or more other users on the message thread. When such a destination selection is made, the message can be formatted for viewing at the selected destination by applying a template, to the message, selected based on the template being configured for the types of data defined in the message and for the type of the destination.

Abstract Features described herein generally relate to providing explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) within extended reality. Particularly, after obtaining input data, including environmental information, user state information, and user profile information, an extended reality system determines virtual content to be presented to a user via a head-mounted device. The extended reality system also identified additional contextual factors associated with this virtual content, including system goals, user goals, a current state of the user, a user's location, a current time, and a current environment of the user. These additional contextual details are then used to determine XAI content that describes one or more aspects of the virtual content (such as how the virtual content was determined based on the input data). The virtual content and the XAI content are then presented to the user by the extended reality system.

Abstract Systems and methods for companion-assisted thermal or power management may include a first device that may transmit metrics indicative of device condition(s) of the first device to a second device via a network maintained by the first device. The second device may receive the metrics, and determine a duty cycle for transmitting a data file between the first device and second device, according to the metrics. The transmitting device may generate a plurality of data packets according to the duty cycle, with each data packet including a portion of a payload of the data file. The transmitting device may transmit each of the plurality of data packets at the determined duty cycle to the receiving device. The receiving device may generate a corresponding data file using each of the plurality of first data packets, responsive to receiving each of the plurality of data packets.
