Albert Pai
Co-founded StackBlitz in 2017 alongside childhood friend Eric Simons after the pair previously built Thinkster (thinkster.io), a platform teaching JavaScript frameworks, which was acquired in December 2018. Pai studied Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois Chicago and earlier worked as a computer programming aide at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The company spent years as a browser-based IDE before a near-death experience—detailed in a 2025 Business Insider feature—led to a pivot that produced Bolt.new, an AI-powered development platform that became one of the fastest-growing products in the space.
