Douglas Chen
Earned a BS in Computer Science from MIT (2017), where he met co-founder Varun Mohan. Before starting the company, he was a machine learning engineer at Facebook (2019–2021) and earlier worked at Matic Robots. In 2021, he co-founded Codeium, later rebranded as Windsurf — an AI-native IDE that pioneered agentic multi-file editing. The startup landed on Forbes' Next Billion-Dollar Startups list in 2024 and was the subject of a $3B acquisition tug-of-war between OpenAI and Google. He ultimately joined Google DeepMind as part of a licensing deal in mid-2025.
