An open-source toolkit and set of libraries for issuing, holding, and verifying digital credentials based on W3C verifiable credentials and decentralized identifiers. It lets issuers such as governments and enterprises put credentials like mobile driver's licenses and IDs into a user's control, and lets verifiers confirm authenticity without phoning home to the issuer. The stack is standards-first and interoperable, aimed at giving people portable identity data they can present across web2 and web3 contexts.
Spruce builds wallet and verification tooling that enables individuals to store verifiable credentials and present them selectively to relying parties. The components support privacy-preserving presentation, so a holder can prove specific attributes, like age or residency, drawn from a credential without oversharing. These pieces underpin deployments of state-issued mobile IDs and other high-assurance credentials, and are designed to be embedded by issuers and app developers rather than locking users into a single proprietary identity provider.
