Daniel Shugar
Daniel Shugar holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from Golden Gate University. He began his career at Pacific Gas and Electric's R&D department in the late 1980s, then co-founded PowerLight Corporation in 1996 with Tom Dinwoodie, commercializing single-axis solar trackers. He later served as president of SunPower Corporation and CEO of Solaria. In 2013, Shugar co-founded Nextracker while at Solaria; it was subsequently spun out and he became CEO. He led Nextracker to its Nasdaq IPO in 2023, earning S&P Global's Chief Trailblazer of the Year award. In November 2025, the company rebranded as Nextpower.
