Pacific Fusion is developing a pulsed-power driven inertial confinement fusion system designed for commercial energy production, targeting net energy gain via rapid successive implosion pulses. The approach uses high-voltage discharge to compress and heat fusion fuel to ignition conditions, a capital-efficient alternative to laser-based ICF. The team's technical pedigree traces from NIF and General Fusion. Commercial demonstration is targeted before 2030, with a $900M Series A funding round to build the system.
