The pre-molded stack may have a compound curvature, which may match a curvature of the curved substrate. The mold may be formed using three-dimensional shape data derived from the curved substrate, such as by optically scanning the curved substrate.

Abstract In the detection of a state where a belt-shaped body W is processed as conveyed through a furnace 10 , a conveyance route R for conveying the belt-shaped body through the furnace is set and a processing condition for processing the belt-shaped body in the furnace as conveying the belt-shaped body along the conveyance route is set. A fluid analysis is performed on the assumption that a highly viscous fluid Wa having the same characteristic as that of the belt-shaped body flows along the conveyance route at the same speed as that of the belt-shaped body. The processing state of the belt-shaped body conveyed through the furnace is simulated.

Abstract A flexible display and manufacturing method thereof are disclosed. In one aspect, the flexible display includes a flexible substrate including a bending area, an insulating layer disposed on the flexible substrate, and at least one groove in the insulating layer within the bending area. The flexible display also includes a stress relaxation layer disposed on the at least one groove and a plurality of wires formed over the insulating layer and the stress relaxation layer.

Abstract A protective barrier affixable to a curved substrate comprises a stack of two or more lenses, each of the two or more lenses including a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film, a hard coat on a first side of the PET film, and an adhesive layer on a second side of the PET film opposite the first side. The stack of two or more lenses may have a modulation transfer function that exhibits a contrast value greater than 75% for a spatial resolution of one line-pair per 0.0003 radians at 65 degrees angle of incidence. Heat and pressure may be applied to conform the stack of two or more lenses to the shape of the curved substrate.

Abstract A belt conveyor for generating a predetermined transport distance between a first item and a second item. The conveyor includes a conveyor belt configured for endless circulation, wherein links include a plurality of first links each of which include one freewheeling roller having a first coefficient of friction. Contact areas between the freewheeling rollers and the items define a transport surface on which the items rest during transport. The links further have at least one second link that has a driving portion, which is arranged in the transport surface and has a second coefficient of friction. Each of the second links is positioned in relation to the conveyor such that the first and second items are driven by the respective driving portion while the conveyor is moved under the first and second items and while bottom sides of the first and second items are in contact with the moving belt.

Abstract A method of manufacturing a polymer film includes melting a resin, extruding the melted resin through a die to produce a polymer film, shaping the polymer film, cooling the polymer film, illuminating a surface with a light source, capturing an image of a shadow cast by the polymer film on the surface while the polymer film is between the light source and the surface, calculating a frequency spectrum of at least a portion of the captured image, and adjusting a process parameter of the melting, the extruding, the shaping, or the cooling based on the frequency spectrum.

Abstract Provided is a coating apparatus where a coated object W is moved relative to an application nozzle 10 located above the coated object, and a coating liquid P is applied to a surface of the coated object via a slit-shaped discharge port 12 at a distal end of the application nozzle. In a coating liquid reservoir 11 storing the coating liquid therein, a coating liquid feeder 14 formed with a coating liquid holding recess 14 a in a predetermined pattern shape is rotatably disposed at place above the slit-shaped discharge port. A partition member 13 for dividing the slit-shaped discharge port into plural discharge parts 12 a along the longitudinal direction of the slit-shaped discharge port is disposed in the slit-shaped discharge port. The coating liquid feeder 14 is rotated to apply the coating liquid to the surface of the coated object via the discharge parts at places corresponding to the coating liquid holding recess.

Abstract A method of counting pigs or poultry includes mounting a camera at an alleyway through which the livestock pass with a width such that the livestock can pass at least two abreast and are free to turn to move in an opposite direction against the direction of travel before all livestock of the group complete their movement though the alleyway. An analysis of the images is carried out which takes into account errors caused by livestock which turn in the portion of the alleyway to move in the opposite direction temporarily before continuing to complete the travel through the portion of the single alleyway to the remote location and takes into account errors caused animals being side by side when passing through the portion of the single alleyway.
