Aurelian Nicolae
Aurelian Nicolae co-founded Whoop in 2012 alongside Will Ahmed and John Capodilupo while all three were students at Harvard. A Romanian-born mechanical engineer, he earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Harvard's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences before co-founding the company out of the Harvard Innovation Lab. As Chief Hardware Engineer, he has been responsible for designing the sensor-equipped wristbands that collect the biometric data powering Whoop's strain, recovery, and sleep analytics. Nicolae has been with the company since its founding and has no prior startup exits — Whoop is his first and only venture. He was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the Consumer Technology category.
