Founded in 2011 by Garry Tan, Alexis Ohanian and Harj Taggar, Initialized writes first checks at the earliest stage and counts 27 seed investments that became unicorns, including Coinbase, Instacart and Cruise. After Tan left to run Y Combinator in 2023 and a 2024 restructuring, the firm is led by Managing Partner Brett Gibson with a partner bench spanning fintech, vertical AI, energy and defense.
