NewLimit was founded in 2021 by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, investor Blake Byers, and stem-cell biologist Jacob Kimmel (CEO), who previously worked at Alphabet's longevity lab Calico. Based in South San Francisco, the company uses molecular tools called transcription factors to reprogram the epigenome of aging cells, restoring gene-expression patterns toward those of younger cells without altering the underlying DNA. Its first program targets the liver, accelerated by a reported prototype that reversed cell age in old human liver cells. In June 2026 NewLimit raised a $435 million Series C led by Founders Fund (with Thrive Capital and Lilly Ventures among investors), bringing its post-money valuation to about $3.1 billion and funding its first clinical trial.
Brian Armstrong's longevity venture has become one of the field's highest-valued reprogramming companies and is pushing toward the clinic.
