Oisin's proprietary non-viral delivery system, a Fusogenix proteo-lipid vehicle (PLV) that carries DNA and RNA payloads into cells with extensive extrahepatic biodistribution and tolerance for repeated dosing. For senescence, the payload is gene-directed so that a suicide gene activates only in cells expressing senescence markers, inducing apoptosis selectively in senescent cells. Because targeting is transcriptional rather than antibody- or small-molecule-based, the platform can in principle be retuned to other cell populations, and Oisin applies it to muscle-growth and fat-cell programs as well.
Oisin's flagship longevity program uses the Fusogenix PLV to deliver a payload that drives senescent cells to programmed cell death based on their expression of markers such as p16 and p53. By keying killing to the senescent transcriptional state, the approach aims to remove the 'zombie' cells that accumulate with age and secrete inflammatory factors linked to age-related disease. The program has been validated in mouse models and remains preclinical, with the same platform also licensed to the cancer-focused spinout OncoSenX.
