Its approach transiently expresses Yamanaka transcription factors (OSKM — OCT4, SOX2, KLF4, c-MYC) in targeted tissues to reverse age-related epigenetic changes while preserving cell identity, aiming to restore youthful gene expression and cellular function. The company's lead candidate, YB002, is a first-in-class gene therapy for Alzheimer's disease that delivers reprogramming factors to the brain. In September 2025 YouthBio reported positive FDA INTERACT feedback for YB002, with the agency agreeing that existing preclinical data support its bioactivity and proposed first-in-human trial.
