Chuck Hull
Earned a B.S. in Engineering Physics from the University of Colorado Boulder and spent over a decade at DuPont and six years as VP of Engineering at UVP, Inc. before inventing stereolithography in 1983 while experimenting with UV-cured table coatings. He filed the foundational 3D printing patent in 1986 and co-founded 3D Systems that same year. Named on more than 60 U.S. patents, inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2014, elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2025, and awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation.
