US accelerates rare earth refining as China curbs defense mineral exports.
Cyclic Materials runs a two-stage circular process for rare earths. MagCycle uses a mechanical-and-chemical 'spoke' step to extract a rare-earth-rich concentrate from shredded end-of-life products such as EV traction motors, wind-turbine generators, hard drives and consumer electronics. REEPure, the 'hub' hydrometallurgical step, then separates and purifies that concentrate into individual rare earth oxides like neodymium and dysprosium suitable for new magnet production. The company reports far lower water use than conventional processing and is scaling spoke-and-hub facilities across North America to feed domestic magnet supply chains.
