Nth Cycle
Nth Cycle is an Advanced Metals & Metallurgy company founded in 2017 and based in Boston, United States.
Co-founded by Megan O'Connor, Desiree Plata and Chad Vecitis out of MIT and Yale research, Nth Cycle is based in the Boston area and commercializes a modular electro-extraction process for critical-mineral refining. Its technology recovers nickel, cobalt, manganese and rare earths from spent batteries, mine tailings and low-grade ores using only electricity and carbon filters, replacing emissions-intensive pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical refining. An independent study found the process cut refining emissions by roughly 92% versus conventional routes, and the company has begun commercial operations of its Oyster electro-extraction collector after raising a Series A co-led by VoLo Earth.
Modular, on-site electro-extraction lets recyclers and miners refine critical metals domestically without giant smelters, easing a key supply-chain and emissions bottleneck.
