Its AI simulation engine, Orb, models the quantum-mechanical behavior of atoms at scale and was used to screen hundreds of thousands of candidates to find a new PFAS-free dielectric cooling fluid for next-generation data-center GPUs, as regulators tighten restrictions on the 'forever chemicals' historically used in immersion cooling. In May 2026 it raised a $50M Series B led by Plural, with Nvidia's NVentures, Radical Ventures, Compound, and Fly Ventures participating.

Orbital ties AI materials discovery directly to the data-center build-out, attacking PFAS coolants and carbon-capture sorbents as concrete, near-term products.
