Beta is the eVTOL sector's capital-efficiency outlier, and it is now the one with the most real-world proof. It is the only electric-aircraft maker with meaningful commercial revenue — $35.6M in FY2025, more than double 2024's $15.1M — and a $3.9B backlog across 991 aircraft as of Q1 2026, with $375M added in that quarter alone, including a firm order from Surf Air Mobility for 25 Alia CTOLs plus options on 75 more. Deliveries have started: the first customer CX300 went to Bristow Norway in August 2025 to open Norway's national AAM test arena, Air New Zealand is trialing toward orders of up to 23 aircraft, and demo campaigns have run from Shannon to Loganair's Glasgow–Dundee route and Royal Mail trials. The strategy of certifying the fixed-wing CX300 first (type certificate targeted around end-2026) with the A250 eVTOL about a year behind de-risks the regulatory path — and Beta has already flown a piloted full transition in the A250, demonstrated publicly in Vermont in June 2026, something Archer has yet to show. The moat compounds through infrastructure: 123 charging sites globally, a new Florida DOT agreement for 34 more, meaning competitors' aircraft may someday pay to use Beta's network. Washington has noticed — Beta was selected in seven of eight FAA eVTOL Integration Pilot Program projects in March 2026, the broadest participation of any company — and the fleet has passed 100,000 nautical miles. With $1.589B in cash from a $1.02B IPO, Amazon and GE on the register, and United Therapeutics as anchor customer, Beta pairs Vermont engineering culture with real commerce.

The market has already rendered a harsh interim verdict: BETA traded around $16.90 in late June 2026, down roughly 50% from its $34 IPO eight months earlier, after a Q1 2026 net loss of $122.3M against $10.1M of revenue triggered a 17.5% single-day drop. The guidance is the tell — FY2026 revenue of just $39–43M against an adjusted EBITDA loss of $355–445M means Beta plans to spend roughly ten dollars for every dollar it books, and the $1.589B cash pile funds perhaps three years at that rate before the company returns to a market that has repriced it by half. Certification risk is live: the CX300's type certificate is targeted for end-2026 but some coverage already stretches to early 2027, TIA does not appear to have been granted as of June 2026, and the A250 eVTOL — the aircraft the valuation actually rides on — sits a year or more behind that. The revenue that exists is a blend of one-off deliveries, services, and demo work, not recurring aircraft production, and the $3.9B backlog is dominated by options and conditional commitments (Air New Zealand's "up to 23," UPS's long-standing "up to 150") that convert only after certification. The electric-first physics remain stubborn: the CX300's ~336 nm range confines it to short regional and cargo missions where used turboprops are cheap competition, and the charging network is a capital sink until fleet density exists. Beta must out-execute Archer and Joby — each holding ~$2B or more — while spending less, delivering more, and certifying two aircraft. Any slip resets a stock that has already halved.
