IONNA

IONNA is a charging joint venture founded in early 2024 by a group of leading automakers and headquartered in Durham, North Carolina. Its eight backers are BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis and Toyota (Toyota joined as the eighth investor in July 2024). IONNA builds branded high-power charging hubs it calls "Rechargery" sites, with covered bays supporting both NACS and CCS connectors, and has stated a goal of installing at least 30,000 charging ports in North America by 2030. As an automaker-owned joint venture rather than an acquired company, its ownership is noted here rather than recorded as an acquisition; Seth Cutler serves as CEO.
